In my years of experience in trying to be a real fake member of the media I have learned from watching. We had sports radio on 1160, 1230 and 1360. They had local morning shows and local programming during the days. I remember Mike Fox... he was a great, great guy. (anyone remember that song) Donn Burrows, Art Shilester etc. They were successful and Clear Channel had to buy them out. Someone, someplace will do it again and it will cost you more to buy back your market. We sure as hell know you dont know how to keep it.

I know.. I know

I'm not familiar with the Cincinnati market but I am familiar with the Louisville and Lexington sports radio markets and they are both horrendous, especially Louisiville. I'm pretty sure the major players are owned by Clear Channel in those cities as well.

While Lance is a decent sports talk host he doesn't hold a candle to P Doc. Lance likes to hear himself talk and wastes 10 minutes every hour rehashing what he has already said or is going to say. Tried calling in one day but gave up after waiting an hour. P Doc like to hear what others have to say, called his show and was on within a matter of minutes. Why they decided on the switch is a head scratcher. I drive to Cincy four days a week and always looked forward to P Doc and his show. Guess I'll just buy some CDs or find an FM station for some music now.

I rarely got to listen to P-Doc, but I listened to him when I had the chance. He was often grumpy and sarcastic like Marty Brennaman, which is why I liked listening to both of them. Lance is more animated, and I'm sure he will do well on 700, but you are right that he does let people languish on hold sometimes.

Alan Cutler used to drive me absolutely nuts sometimes, but I'd tune in the next morning anyway because the topic was ALWAYS local. I quit listening to 1530 after 2 days of the national replacements for Alan and Mo. I want to primarily hear about what is going on with the Reds and Bengals, UC and Xavier, with the national stuff sprinkled in. The national shows are dominated by talk about the big market teams and usually only mention the Reds or Bengals if the story is negative. If I wanted to hear endless talk about the Red Sox and Yankees, I'd move to CT so I could be close to both!

Say it LOUD!!!

Boy you go away for a few weeks and all hell breaks loose. I am a women and I love sports, can't get enough of them. I used to listen to Cutler on my way to work everyday and enjoyed hearing about all the local sports. I did not get a chance to listen to Mo very often but listened when I could. I can't stand Jim Rome (sp?). I can't believe a bunch of grown men call his show and actually do their speel about war this and war that. I don't know what they are talking about half the time. Jim Rome must repeat himself twenty times on the same subject. We got it the first time we don't need you to reiterate it twenty times, we are not stupid. I turn him off the minute I hear his voice. I like Lance but I don't want to wait until 3:00 pm. to hear about my sports teams. What was Clear Channel thinking? I agree with the other posters on this thread who in the hell cares about the national sports except to hear a score or two. Now my drive to work is terrible and I either listen to 55 krc or Jim Scott on 700. Jim Scott's show has changed through the years also. I hate how he does the interview and then records it to play it on his morning show. It sounds so fake.
